FAQ

Q: What's the deal with the Beer Kits, how do I order a kit?
A: The kits are listed as bare options and include specialty grains, hops, and adjuncts. When ordering, select either an "All Grain" or "Extract" option depending on your method of brewing, or leave those blank if you purchase base malt or extract in bulk.  The text field can be used to specify the type of base malt or extract you prefer. If you want the default option, just enter "default" into the text box. Yeast recommendations are made, but yeast is sold separately to allow customization. Don't forget your yeast!

Q: What do I need in order to brew?
A: A brewpot (5 to 7.5 gallons), a standalone propane burner (if you are married), a fermentation container (bucket/carboy), a large spoon, a thermometer, and a desire to drink great beer.

---

Q: Is it hard to brew beer?
A: If you can boil water, you can brew beer. All it takes is a little attention to detail and following a general timeline.

---

Q: What is included with the beer kits?
A: Beer kits include all grains, extracts, hops and additives (except honey) that are needed to take your beer from brewing to drinking. Kit descriptions will indicate whether the yeast is liquid or dry. The yeast is not included in the kit price.

---

Q: Can I order online and pick up in the store?
A: Yes, just click the "Will Call" box as your shipping option.

---

Q: Is it difficult to make wine?
A: Making wine at home is even easier than making beer. Very little boiling is involved (just items that are added to the wine, such as oak chips or sugars). Making wine from a kit involves more mixing than cooking.

---

Q: What if I make "bad beer?"
A: As long as you follow the rules of sanitation, you will make good beer. It is nearly impossible to drink beer that would be harmful, as the aroma and flavors are not compatible with the human body. With proper sanitation, no "nasties" will spoil your beer.

---

Q: How long does it take to make beer?
A: Some beer kits are ready to keg or bottle in less than one week. The average time from brewing to kegging or bottling is 12 days.

---

Q: How can I view the status of my order?
